Writing Prompts: Fairy Tales

It’s that time again folks. Get your pens ready and write!

  • Red Riding Hood stalked the hunter known as “The Wolf.”
  • Snow White fled into the woods after her coup went awry.
  • Rapunzel knew her hair was long enough to chop off and use as a ladder, but she liked the tower. It was safe. How do you save an agoraphobic princess from herself?
  • The three bears were hiding the little blonde girl. She needed a sanctuary; they had much love and porridge to give.
  • Being the last child in Hamelin Town is maddening. You set off to find your friends and set things right.
  • Cinderella had married her prince. She should be happy. Yet why does she still feel as if she were a bird in a cage?
  • The Cave of Wonders never held earthly riches. It was literally an oasis; a link to the Garden of Eden on earth.
  • Jack needed to be caught and punished. He was a giant murderer after all. A thief too. Justice must be done!
  • Belle needed to observe the Beast up close for her book. Offering herself up as a prisoner would be the perfect ploy to get inside the castle.
  • Hansel and Gretel became well known witch hunters, but they both had a secret. They were magic users themselves.
  • The Ugly Duckling was no duckling at all. It was a baby dragon.
  • It was the court date for the Three Little Pigs Architecture Firm. Two of their houses had fallen down on the families occupying them. Judge Wolfeson would be presiding.
  • Sleeping Beauty had awoken to a modern world: one of test tubes and men in white coats studying her.
  • Rumpelstiltskin hoped the miller’s daughter would never guess his name. He needed to have an excuse to see her again. Her beauty dazzled his trickster’s heart.
  • Truth was the prince had wished to be a frog. He had wanted a simpler life even if that life included eating bugs.
