(The above quote has never been verified as having been said by Dorothy Parker, although various explanations have been offered, including one that states that this was her reply to her editor when asked why she was late with her copy. Again, not verified, but somewhat reasonable to assume. And amusing. Rumor has it that she did once say to Norman Mailer, who had been convinced by his publishers to use the word “fug”, in his 1948 novel The Naked and the Dead, “So you’re the man who can’t spell ‘fuck’.”)
